Annie Robinson
Annie Robinson, born in May 1950 in Summerton, South Carolina, the historic home of the landmark civil rights case Briggs v. Elliott, is a dedicated community leader whose life reflects resilience, service, and purpose.
A 1968 graduate of Scott’s Branch High School, she continued her education at the Community College of Baltimore (CCB) and the U.S. Postal Academy in Potomac, Maryland, before embarking on a distinguished 39-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, including 35 years in management.
In 2016, following the loss of her oldest sister to ovarian cancer, Annie founded the Joanne W. Charles Walk to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and support women and their families affected by the disease. Her grassroots initiative has since grown into the Joanne W. Charles Memorial Foundation, expanding its impact in education, advocacy, and community outreach.
