What an amazing quarter!! In April #iwalk4joanne was in full swing. The walk, the health fair and community health day were just beautiful. Thank you to all our vendors, healthcare leaders and the town of Summerton, SC for coming out to help us walk to wipe-out ovarian cancer! Walking for ovarian cancer awareness on Joanne’s birthday…it was simple beautiful!!
The month of May was even better with our annual Women’s Health Month event in Orlando – our doctor from Moffitt Cancer Center and wellness designer gave attendees a plethora of information on reproductive health. Did you know the HPV vaccine is the only vaccine that can help prevent cervical and other cancers for women up to age 45 (consult your doctor)? Thank you to our vendors, silent auction donors and, of course, panelists for creating a safe place for an open discussion on women’s health; as well as Maggiano’s Little Italy for having such a delicious meal. Now for June we rest; rest because Summer brings the Back-to-School drive, our annual Charity Golf tournament and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. So join us at our upcoming events, especially our annual charity golf tournament. It’s our primary fundraiser; providing funding for our educational engagement events to bring more ovarian cancer awareness. **Please note we will NOT host our July tournament in Orlando, FL for 2025. We hope to return in 2026. Golfers are welcome to join us in Santee, SC in August.
As swing into Summer, remember ovarian cancer has no standard screening test. It is important to know the signs, symptoms [bloating, pelvic pain, feeling full quickly, loss of appetite, weight loss, and abdominal pain] and talk to your doctor if you have concerns. Early detection saves lives!
